When a full re-roof is the right call
Re-roofing is necessary when spray foam causes serious moisture damage or hidden timber decay or makes old underlays too fragile to save. We assess the roof properly before any major work starts, because not every property needs a full strip back. If foam has been sprayed straight onto the underside of slats or tiles, removal often breaks the covering, and a full replacement is usually the safest route.

That matters because damaged battens, rotten rafters, and torn felt can leave your home exposed to leaks and poor ventilation. We carry out this work, helping you move from a non-compliant roof to one that is sound and breathable again. We'll talk you through what the roof needs and what can still be salvaged before work begins at RBG Roofing Building Group Wales.
How do we carry out the work?
If your property requires a full re-roof alongside foam extraction, the project follows a structured sequence:
-
Scaffolding & protection
Heavy-duty scaffolding is installed around the perimeter of your property, ensuring safe access and protection throughout the works. -
Roof stripping & foam removal
Roof coverings such as slats or tiles are carefully removed, followed by the controlled extraction of spray foam from the structural timbers. -
Timber inspection & repairs
All rafters are inspected for signs of damp, decay, or structural weakness, with repairs or replacements carried out where required. -
Breathable membrane & batten installation
A modern breathable roofing membrane is fitted, along with new treated battens to ensure proper ventilation and long-term performance. -
Re-tiling
The roof is re-clad using either salvaged materials or new slats and tiles, depending on condition and project requirements.

Why this work protects your property
A properly completed re-roof gives the structure a chance to breathe again, which helps reduce trapped moisture in the roof space. New membranes and battens also create a more dependable base for the outer covering, especially on older roofs. RBG Roofing Building Group Wales often finds that dealing with the roof thoroughly now can prevent repeated repair bills later.
